Mahler Songs
Shrink-wrapped
Mahler wrote a number of songs of singular beauty, some of which were re-used in orchestral settings. The songs include settings of poems from the Romantic anthology Des Knaben Wunderhorn (The Boy's Magic Horn), Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) and Rueckert's Kindertotenlieder (Songs of the Death of Children). These songs have for a long time been on Peter Mattei's concert repertoire, and his performance of Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen at the Carnegie Hall with the Met Orchestra under the baton of James Levine was nothing but a sensation.
This album with the Norrkoeping Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jochen Rieder, proves why Mattei is one of the most sought after singers of his generation .
The album is recorded in De Geer-hallen (Norrköping concert hall) and produced by Lars Nilsson.
