Zoe Mellor craved for her mother’s love who only had love for her first child, Victor, and she died without Zoe finding out why her mother did not even acknowledge she was ever born.
Now motherless at fifteen, Zoe spends her young days looking after her father and adored brothers in Lancashire. With scant education and hardly any other training other than a sharp mind and fearless spirit, Victor starts to exploit her talent for painting and art appreciation. A chance meeting with Harland Goldberg changes her life when she starts working for him in his art gallery. He teaches her the art trade, smartens and toughens her up in this new, often corrupt and glitzy environment and watches over her.
But Victor has other plans for his sister and soon she is dealing with art and sculpture forgeries that bring them and the family a fortune. Her meteoric rise in the glamorous world of international art and her phenomenal success as a forger brings jealousy and greed so that Zoe is now at risk for everything she has always worked for: her reputation and that of Harland’s and the love and security of her father and brothers.
