In the early 20th century, many composers drew their inspiration from folk music, often borrowing from Gypsy music to create their vision of an exotic, exuberant, mysterious (and largely imaginary) Orient. Things have now been turned around as the Taraf have taken hold of works by Khachaturian, Bartok, de Falla, Albeniz, Ketelbey & more, and have "re-gypsyfied" them by giving them an exhilarating Taraf make-over!
