Meinl Cymbals B16EDMTH Byzance Extra Dry 16-Inch Medium Thin Hi Hat Cymbal Pair (VIDEO)
Hand hammered in Turkey from cast B20 Bronze — the Byzance Extra Dry Medium Thin Hi-Hats are where definition, dryness and a silky feel meet — articulation is up front with an extra dry, earthy character that smooths them out on the back end
Raw yet refined — Byzance Extra Dry cymbals appear to be raw, but their design and sound is highly refined through extensive hand hammering — this is one of the most intriguing voices within the Byzance family that attracts many drummers
Effortless sound — the thin weight of Byzance Extra Dry cymbals in combination with the dry surface puts them in a musical range that is useful in virtually any style — the underside of this cymbal is fully lathed to blend smoothness into its dry feel
Designed for power, nuance and definition — these cymbals punctuate while adding loads of texture with fine stick definition — at low volumes, they deliver an earthy, mellow sound, and they can reach explosive status when laying into them with intensity
Modern versatility rooted in tradition — hand hammered into shape in Turkey using cast B20 bronze, Meinl Byzance cymbals are deeply rooted in traditional cymbal crafting methods, yet their old-world background is dialed-in to 21st century needs.Match your heros — Meinl Cymbals are used by pro drummers like Benny Greb, Anika Nilles, Mike Johnston, Matt Garstka, Stu Fagan, Craig Reynolds or Robert Sput Searight
We’ve received a lot of feedback from our customers and artists requesting that we add this particular model to our assortment,†says Meinl Cymbal Product Manager Stefan Mueller. “Big-sized hihats have become very popular over the last few years. They offer a full bodied sound with a lot of low end and volume, yet stay controllable and focused.†Living up to their name, these cymbals are extremely dry, with low-pitched, trashy sounds and short sustain. The raw unlathed surfaces and extensive hand hammering suggest that their sound might be loud and fierce. In reality, the Extra Dry series reveals its dark, earthy tones and comes to life when played at lower volumes. The 16" Extra Dry Medium Thin hi hats are an ensemble of their own with a dry, yet filling "chick" sound that responds at any volume level. Due to the size and finish, these hi hats maintain a strong rhythmic pulse without overpowering while being played open.
