The Meinl 12â€ Aluminum Caixa is a staple piece with any Samba band. The Caixa is a snare-type drum played with sticks. It has synthetic heads for bright, penetrating tones, and cutting rim shots. The Caixaâ€™s role is to be played as a fast and high counterpoint line to the deeper Surdos and middle range Repenique. The Meinl 12â€ Aluminum Caixa has a snare drum style snare, complete with a snare throw-off. The rims are secured with six countersunk tuning lugs. All edges are smoothly finished for player comfort. The hardware is chrome plated for enduring great looks. A tuning key is included. Meinl Caixas come equipped with heads that have our logo printed on the underside. This patented technique assures the logo ink will not rub off onto sticks and make smear marks on the head. Caixas are typically worn waist high. The Meinl Samba Belt is perfect for this style of play. Our Samba Sticks offer options for variable sounds. Our Regular Version Samba Stick is a single stick for a focused strike.
