Coming off of the 'Invasion' album, Manilla Road was looking to transition from more of a Rush type Progressive Rock band to a more Judas Priest/Iron Maiden Heavy Metal band and the album 'Metal' is this transition album for the band. This is the only Manilla Road album that has that early 80's Heavy Metal vibe, but still carries that 70's Classic Rock feel. You can hear elements of 'Invasion' and their best-selling album of all time 'Crystal Logic'. 'Cage of Mirrors' is arguably the best song on this album, but there are other classics here that have certainly stood the test of time. There's not a lot of music out there that has that genuine hybrid of 70's/80's rock/metal that was actually written and recorded then, so if you're a fan of this era, it doesn't get much better than this.
