MiG Design Bureau first shocked the world with the infamous MiG-15 during the Korean War. The Soviets continued development of this concept with the MiG-17 and then the first Soviet supersonic plane, the MiG-19. "Farmer" is the NATO code word used for this plane.
Not as many MiG-19's were built as the MiG-15, but this was a very capable and dangerous opponent. Fast, maneuverable, easy to manufacture, this plane gave US pilots a tough time during the Vietnam War and the Israelis in 1967/73 Wars.
This is another in the fine series of "In Action" books, Squadron Signal format is to provide the readers with a bit of narrative, plenty of clear black and white photos, and many line drawings to show each version of this fighter. 2 pages of color plates help the modelers see the different paint schemes used.
This book is perfect for modelers or those who are interested in an introduction to Soviet aviation history. Yefim Gorden wrote the definative book on the Mig-19, but it more expensive. I highly recommend this book, I have read it and referenced it many times.
