Miniature 1857 Napoleon Civil War Cannon- Bronze Barrel
The Napoleon gun was so frequently used mainly because it was as effective as its predecessors, but lighter and more movable. It was popular because it worked so well. Solid shot, explosive shell, spherical case shot (containing many small balls) and canister could all be shot with deadly effect. Effective range was approximately 1000 yards, and top range was nearly one mile. Rifled cannons could shoot for more distance and more precisely, but were not so effective with canisters. Confederate ammo for rifled guns suffered from such destructive mistakes that Southern gunners were especially partial to using Napoleons. Any Civil War buff would admire this miniature cannon, which is a smaller version of the original.Features Stylish accent decor piece Makes a nice collection Historical gift item - super for the history buff Made in the USA Measurements Length: 5.25" Height: 2.25" Weight: 0.5 lbs.
