Ministerial Priesthood
In perhaps the finest study of priesthood produced by an Anglican, R. C. Moberly addresses the nature of church unity, the difficulties and divisions that have resulted, the relationship between the clergy and the laity, and the basis of ministry (specifically the divine commission). Moberly lays out clearly the gradations of ministry found in the New Testament and in the early centuries of the Christian church. Finally, he offers an Anglican understanding of priestood in the universal church. So long out of print, the Apocryphile Press is pleased to offer a new edition of MINISTERIAL PRIESTHOOD as part of our ongoing Anglican Heritage Series. Son of Bishop George Moberly, R.C. Moberly was the Regius Professor of Pastoral Theology at Oxford. Later, he served as Chaplain to King Edward VII. His other books include Atonement and Personality.
