Mixed Emotions Junior: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Young Children
Help young children accurately identify emotions!
Children learn to explain their emotions to others in appropriate ways
Children move the "people pawns" to indicate the intensity of their emotions
Black and white version of the chart can be copied and used for "home assignments"
This activity can also be used to help children understand the emotions of others and to develop empathy for others
The colorful Mixed Emotions "Junior" board and people pawns provide an engaging tool for young children to identify their emotions and gauge the intensity of their emotions. This process help children "stop and think" before acting out their emotions. The accompanying materials include for instructions several activities (Show Me How You Feel, Thinking About Feelings, and Coping With Feelings). On the reverse side of the board is a black and white version of the chart that can be copied and sent home with the child; ideas for home assignments are also included. Through the use of these engaging materials, therapists can use cognitive-behavioral techniques with even very young children.
