Money Matters (A Helen Wiels Mystery Book 2)
A new city. A new job. A new threat to her life?
Helen Wiels has moved to San Francisco for her new job with a private society. She’s still having trouble living up to the mispronunciation of her surname, which makes it sound as if she’s ‘Hell-on Wheels.’ The reticent librarian hasn't been able to completely adopt that persona yet, but at times her alter-ego, the forthright and outspoken ‘Hell-on,’ has come in handy.
Life in the city on the bay was not turning out the way Helen expected. What had seemed like a generous salary was proving to be less than adequate, even though she'd rented an apartment almost too small for one person. The dank, dark basement space where she had to work would make even a coal miner wary.
Helen felt she had no choice but to put up with it all; she needed the job, and she'd signed a year’s lease. Then she discovers a dead body in her work space… and unfortunately soon learns that won’t be the worst thing to happen to her in San Francisco.
This cozy mystery is the second book in the Helen Wiels Mystery series. It picks up where Book 1, Past Matters, left off, although it can be read as a stand-alone novel.
