Motorola CS3000 Handheld Cordless Single Line Laser Barcode Reader with USB Host Interface and Cable
This Motorola CS3070 handheld LED single-line laser barcode reader has 512 MB of flash memory, connects to a host system wirelessly or with a USB cable, and can be used to scan and decode linear one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. The barcode reader is small enough to be held in the hand, put into a pocket, or attached to a lanyard. A laser produces a single line of light to scan the barcode. The 512 MB of built-in flash memory can store barcode data from more than one million scans. Wireless Bluetooth capability allows the barcode reader to connect wirelessly to a computer or another host system (not included) to transmit barcode data. The USB cable plugs into the host system's USB port to create a wired connection and recharge the reader's lithium-ion battery (included). The battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous use on one charge or up to 12 hours when the device is in Bluetooth mode. This barcode reader weighs 2.45 oz. with the battery and measures 3.41 x 1.95 x 0.87 inches (L x W x H). (L is length, the horizontal distance from front to back; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point.) It can withstand a drop of up to 4 ft. or 500 drops of up to 1.64 ft.
Barcode scanners, also known as barcode readers, can be used to scan and decode barcodes and to transmit barcode data to a computer or another host system. Barcode readers with a single-line laser can be used to scan linear, one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. Some lasers can produce light in an omnidirectional pattern to allow scanning of barcodes from different angles. Other barcode readers contain CCD (charge-coupled device) light sensors instead of a laser for accuracy and wear resistance. Barcode scanners with raster scanning, area imaging, and other scanning technologies can allow scanning of two-dimensional (2D) or Portable Document Format 417 (PDF417) barcodes, among other types. Some barcode readers provide onboard flash memory to allow the storage of barcode data before transmitting it to a computer or host system through a USB cable or wireless WLAN or Bluetooth connection. Many barcode readers have a handle for handheld use and come with a stand or a charging cradle for fixed position applications, while others are designed for stationary use on a counter or another flat surface. Some portable readers are small enough to be carried in a pocket or attached to a lanyard. Barcode readers are used at retail checkout counters and other points of sale (POS) locations and in warehouses and shipping facilities.
