“You work too hard,†I told him. “Why don’t you take a few days off and stay here with me and our babies.â€
Jonas almost laughed. “Surely your mountain gorilla is getting enough work done for you without you wanting me to forget about my patients and help you.†This surprised me. I hadn’t been thinking about farm work. I was thinking about Jonas being tired from working too long and hard.
“Barnabus doesn’t need help,†I told Jonas. “If he did, I’d get him to send for his older brother. He says his brother is bigger and can do a lot more than he does. I didn’t expect you to take off and work on the farm,â€
