This new release is part of PentaTones Remastered Classics Series, which remasters some of Philips Classics most successful recordings from the 1970s. One of the most essential figures of the German-Viennese classic and romantic traditions, Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel dazzled audiences with a career that spanned over six decades. His main emphasis in repertoire was the interpretation of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms. This recording is from a 1970 concert of Mozarts piano concertos Nos. 17 and 12. Brendel is joined here by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields conducted by Sir Neville Marriner, who remains one of the most influential conductors of the twentieth century.
