Interview With The Author

Q â€“ The premise for NEAR DEATH is a little unusual. How did you come up with the idea?

A â€“ I was perusing the Web, jumping from one link to another, when I landed on a page that had actual Near Death Experiences recounted by the people who experienced them. Very fascinating reading. I didnâ€™t really think much more about it at that time and moved on after a little time there.

About 2 days later, I was watching a show on real mind reading technology using M.R.I. medical equipment and a rudimentary set of words. Then â€œClick.â€ My brain made a connection and the story was born.

Q â€“ So, this technology exists?

A â€“ Not as sophisticated a system as Jake Townsendâ€™s machine. But there have been some advances in the interpretation of electrical impulses emitted by the brain. I expect cell phones, cars, TVs, etc. will be able to â€œreadâ€ our minds in the very near future. Scary and cool.

Q â€“ Is this considered a paranormal book?

A â€“ It kind of blurs the lines. Which in some folksâ€™ opinions is not a favorable thing to do for an authorâ€™s career. It has a little paranormal, a little creepiness, science fiction, action, and thriller all rolled into one fun package.

I love all those genres, so why not write what I love? It worked for me and I know it appeals to others as well.
