The OTC 6689 is provided to ensure proper cam timing when servicing timing belts, chains, head gaskets, or performing other valve train repairs. These 15 tools are based on OE designs and are offered to service the following applications: 1993 to current 3.5 V-6 engines, 1994 to current 2.0 and 2.4 I-4 and 2.5 V-6 engines, 1998 to current 2.7 V-6 engines, 1989 – 1995 2.0 I-4 Mitsubishi engine, 1991 – 1997 3.0 V-6 Mitsubishi engine, 1981 – 1993 2.2 and 2.5 I-4 engines, 1999 to current 4.7 V-8 engine, 2002 to current 3.7 V-6 engine. Cam positioning is an IMPORTANT procedure. If cam timing is not correct, the engine may still run but emissions and mileage will be affected. The engine computer may also initiate the Check Engine light.
