The ancient Slavs believed that oak was a sacred tree and settled near oak groves. They, it turns out, were right, as the healing properties of this tree cannot be ignored, in addition to creating a special and unique bath aroma in the banya. People have always used the bark taken from young branches as a strong astringent and an agent strengthening blood vessels; oak bark baths were the best remedy for sweating feet, women's diseases, and bedsores. That is why an oak venik is just as popular as a birch venik.
