OCEAN WONDERS
This soundscape is an aural voyage beginning at a beach along the Big Sur (California) coast, and descending below the surface into the depths of the sea, before emerging to the shore, once again. The sea pulsates with biological sound. We’ve all heard birds screaming above the sounds of breaking waves while standing at the shore. Some of us have even enjoyed the recorded sounds of humpback and killer whales (orcas). However, in addition to those just mentioned, this recording provides even more exciting insights into the voices of the ocean introducing the rhythmic sounds of fish and crustaceans in a marine context not normally heard.
OCEAN WONDERS. One day, some time ago, I dreamed of creating an audio journey that invites the listener on a trip from the seashore to the depths of the ocean and back again…just to hear what’s there. We know so little about why and (sometimes) how creatures vocalize. This is especially true of marine creatures whose sounds never cease to surprise, delight and engage us. This soundscape features birds, whales, and crustaceans as part of the aural texture of the experience. In addition, we hear fish that are especially active vocally around the coral reefs of the world that are still healthy and viable.
