Solo album from founding member of first wave punk icons the Mekons and roots rabble-rousers the Waco Brothers. Full of soulful urgency and longing, of lost sailors, cruel pirates and creeping inevitabilities, Old Devils travels o'er the sea from the pubs of Wales to the suburbs of America, steeped in the haunted, never-ending search for place. Starting with the premise that for many, punk IS roots music, Jon and his band evoke the British hippie folk re-inventions of Richard Thompson, a muscular barrelhouse Rockpile and Lennonesque orchestrations.
