However, she had not interfered with their friendship, knowing Jon would go away to college and Dan wouldnâ€™t.

Then one night she heard Jon come home after she was ready for bed. She knew he had gone out hoping to run into a girl he liked and was curious about his evening, so she went downstairs to the kitchen without thinking to put on a housecoat. The nightgown she wore had given to her by her son her for Christmas ten years ago. It was so thread-bare the fabric was almost transparent. She was startled that her sonâ€™s two friends were with him, and she raced back to her bedroom, embarrassed that they had seen her.

She thought his friends had gone as she lay in bed, but the malevolent Dan had stayed with her son to smoke pot. After Jon fell asleep, Dan went up to Megynâ€™s bedroomâ€¦
