On The Air Tonight is the new album by Colin Blunstone, one of Britain s greatest vocal stylists. It's the tenth solo studio set in a career that, in recent years, has gained renewed momentum. From media, fans, and fellow musicians alike, there s now fresh appreciation all over the world for Colin s work in his own name, as guest vocalist with countless other artists, and for his legacy with the legendary Zombies. His incomparable voice has been in our consciousness for five decades, on some of the most memorable songs in pop history. In 2014, Colin Blunstone s creative contributions are more respected than ever.
Now rightly regarded as one of the most innovative British groups of the first wave of the British Invasion, the Zombies were reactivated by Colin and keyboard wizard Rod Argent for globally acclaimed records and tours, as they built up to the 50th anniversary of their formation in 2011. Just this month, it was announced that the group is among the nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Blunstone s timeless tunes have been at the forefront of the Zombies She s Not There, Tell Her No and Time of the Season, and their classic album Odessey and Oracle . Collaborations have also been done by Colin Blunstone with the likes of Dave Stewart ( What Becomes of the Brokenhearted ) and the Alan Parsons Project ( Old and Wise, ) among many other album appearances. He also has an extensive solo catalogue which contains such gems as Say You Don t Mind, I Don t Believe In Miracles, Misty Roses, How Could We Dare To Be Wrong and Levi Stubbs Tears.
So now, after another period of glowingly-reviewed touring with the Zombies, the solo spotlight is set to shine on Colin again for On The Air Tonight. Produced by Jon Sweet and recorded at studios in Norfolk, Wales, West Sussex and Dorset, it s a collection of new compositions by Blunstone and other writers, seasoned with some well-chosen revivals. This is an album to add new distinction to a lifetime of recording, in which Colin has put his unmistakable vocal mark on so many memorable tracks.
Starting in Spring, 2014, Colin Blunstone will be on tour in America both with The Zombies and with his solo group for a number of dates.
