All you need is the StarSeek Wireless Telescope Controller and the Orion StarSeek astronomy app (available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store). Controlling your telescope wirelessly with your mobile device running the visually stunning and functionally powerful StarSeek app takes telescope control to a whole new, and fun, level. The Orion StarSeek Wireless Telescope Controller creates its own local wireless network, leveraging the Wi-Fi capability built into iPhones, iPads and Android devices. When coupled to the serial or USB port on your telescope's GoTo mount, the StarSeek Wireless Telescope Controller converts the Wi-Fi signal from the mobile device into serial commands used by the mount to drive the telescope automatically to any of more than 31,000 celestial objects in the StarSeek app's database. The StarSeek Wireless Telescope Controller works with all Orion motor-driven GoTo mounts and telescopes as well as with many other brands having RS-232 or USB ports. It also works with "push-to" Orion IntelliScopes (requires #5222 IntelliScope to PC serial cable, sold separately). The compact StarSeek Wireless Telescope Controller can be easily attached to your telescope with the included hook-and-loop strap. Power is provided by an internal lithium ion battery with a typical battery life of 4 to 8 hours under continuous use. An automatic hibernate mode prolongs battery life, and a helpful low-battery LED lets you know when charging is needed. The controller can also be powered from an AC outlet with the included AC charger which has a 5' cable. This unit contains a lithium battery.
