Outlaw To The Cross

It was a summer night in Nashville and I thought I would go out and listen to some music. I've forgotten the name of the club I went to and who was playing. I've not forgotten the big event of the evening, and that was meeting my hero, Tompall Glaser. Someone said to me, "Tompall Glaser is here." I thought, "No way!" I went over to his table to say hello and we immediately hit it off, and the rest is history! That was about thirty years ago.

In the mean time I got saved and became a Pastor and Christian recording artist. Then one day Tompall and I were talking and it came up that he had never recorded a Gospel album. The next thing you know we agreed that he would make his first Gospel record for Miller Music. We picked out Tompall's favorite Gospel songs and it was clear that the golden voice of Tompall Glaser was the best ever for these great songs.

Tompall had made his mark when he hit Nashville in the sixties beginning what we all know now as the Outlaw Movement. When Tompall had his state of the art studio in Nashville, artists such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and John Hartford were regulars. In fact they practically lived there at times.

Yes, Tompall was a musical outlaw and no one man ever did more to put his mark on music as we know it. Then along the way he gave his heart to Jesus and that is where our album title comes from. Outlaw to the Cross will stir your heart, bring tears to your eyes, and signal clearly that Tompall Glaser is one of the great vocalists and artists of our time. It is one of my greatest honors to say that Tompall Glaser is my friend and it has been a great pleasure to produce what many are calling the best album Tompall Glaser has ever made. It was a great pleasure and a dream come true for me to be able to work on this project with the great Tompall and to be able to sing two duets with him.
