A dual-density PU back plate and VPD padding conform to your spine after short exposure to body heat, and the plate is designed to be thicker over the spine for increased protection and thinner at the sides for increased mobility and comfort. VPD (visco-elastic polymer dough) is also highly flexible until impact, at which point it hardens instantly to dissipate force. This design means the Spine Vest is easy to wear under a pack or on the skin track, so you don't have to sacrifice full protection when you're out in the backcountry or pedaling up before a gnarly downhill. The front zipper and removable wide elastic waistband provide a snug, adjustable fit, and ventilation holes in the PU back plate help keep you cool when you're riding under the hot sun or getting after some springtime corn snow.
