Paper Beads from Overseas
When I first started looking into paper beading, it was these shapes I was originally after. A friend of mine was wearing a beautiful bracelet made out of paper beads that her Son had brought back from a missionary trip from Africa. I was smitten! Since then I've written two other tutorials and it wasn't until I was writing my full length book that I finally figured out how to make the lovely shapes that started it all. Who knew it was such a well kept secret? Well, secrets out...
This tutorial focuses totally on the three main shapes that we see: the Bicone, the Disc and the Bell. The Bicone is exactly that- two cones and is probably the most common shape seen. The Disc is really fun and is so easy to make in so many sizes. Baby discs are called "buttons" and are just cute as one too! The Bell is probably one of my favorites because it has that pretty flair around the rim and is hollow inside. Most important though is that they are all easy to make!
