Clicker training is a method that uses a unique sound, a click, to tell a your pet that he has done something right.Because the click sound is hard to replicate in daily life it is a distintc sound that can be used to mark any action or behavior a he does. This sound is made using a 'clicker'. Using a training clicker is not just for dogs, it is proven to work with cats and birds as well.

How to Train Your Dog with A Clicker

When your dog (or cat, bird even horse) responds appropriately to any command, immediately sound the clicker and follow with a treat or reward. Repeat the exercise until your dog learns the command. You may gradually phase out treats add new challenges.
Always Follow A Click with a Treat . ALWAYS. Even if you clicked accidentally. The click in itself means nothing to your dog, she could care less about it. She learns to pay attention to it because it reliably predicts food.
Don't Use the Clicker to Get Your Dog's Attention. The clicker has one job: to tell your dog exactly what behavior is earning treats right now.
