Pietro Degli Antoni: 12 Sonatas for Violin & Basso
Pietro degli Antoni (1639-1720) is known for being a founding member of the famed Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna. Other famous members included Vitali, Tosi, Corelli, Torelli, and Bassani. Antoni was also an active chapel musician and composer, writing many sacred vocal works along with chamber music and operas. This album includes Antonis 12 Sonatas Op. 4 for violin and basso continuo. One of Italys finest baroque violinists, Alessandro Ciccolini does a phenomenal job of capturing Antonis rapid passage work and arioso style melodies.
