Her record company had high hopes for Joanie Sommers when they first signed her in 1960. So much so, they heralded her the greatest discovery in singing in the last fifteen years. Whilst her career didnt hit quite the heights her label had predicted, it certainly made waves, with several of her recordings being required listening and one or two even causing a stir on the Northern Soul circuit. Her first album was Positively The Most, an album featuring versions of songs from the American songbook but, for some reason, omitting her then popular hit single One Boy. Whether adding the single might have made a difference to the success of the album is a matter of debate, but its omission at least ensured the theme of the album was allowed to run through all twelve tracks.
