Though it's spread into general usage, the word "powwow" is used by Plains Indians to describe their annual festival of food, dance and song. This album presents music recorded at two powwow meetings, with performances by members of the Pawnee, Ponca, Sac and Fox, Quapaw, Osage, Kiowa, Sioux, Hidatsa and Arapaho tribes.
