Young chanter/singer Nirinjan Kaur has a mesmerizing voice - low-toned, silky and hypnotic. When she sings, you're instantly filled with the sweetness and purity of her sound. PREM SIRI ("Great Love") is Nirinjan Kaur's second album for Spirit Voyage Records, on which she is joined by Ram Dass Khalsa, Thomas Barquee, Hans Christian and others. Her serene mantra singing is the focal point (a mix of Kundalini mantras and Gurmukhi shabads), while bansuri flutes twist and twirl in the backdrop among cello, viola, harmonium and a variety of percussion instruments. "Mera Baid" is particularly enchanting - a tender, acoustic piece with a rich atmosphere and yearnful vocals from Nirinjin. The 'great love" that the title speaks of is further evident on "Poota Mata Ki Asees," a prayerful mantra sung in a slow, gentle manner, that focuses on a mother's love.
