- Directions: To prepare stock, add base to cold or lukewarm water and stir immediately with a wire whip to dissolve. Bring to a boil. A soup base makes an excellent foundation for creating or enhancing stocks, pan sauces, chowders, gumbos, paella, cioppino, steaming mussels or clams and mayonaise or sour cream based dips and spreads.
