The concerts presented here perfectly frame Cheap Trick's rise to fame during the band's classic era. The first comes from Rockford Armory in the band's hometown Rockford, Illinois on October 8th 1977,just a few weeks after the release of their sophomore album 'In Color'. Broadcast live at the time by WYXC, the set list runs through almost all of 'In Color' and most of 'Cheap Trick' including early live versions of all the singles to that point - 'Oh Candy', 'ELO Kiddies', 'I Want You To Want Me' and 'Southern Girls'. The second performance included here took place at Chicago's International Amphitheater on June the 16th, 1979 and is a fascinating document of the band's evolution. Broadcast live by KPFA three months prior to the release of 'Dream Police', the show captures 'Cheap Trick' on the cusp of their breakthrough. Taken together these shows are an essential sonic essay of Cheap Trick during the 1970s and will be both an important part of any fan's collection, as well as a sterling, comprehensive introduction to the first period in the group's history.
