Real Life Fishing Stories That Really Piss People Off -- starring Lefty Kreh, Ray Scott, Jimmy Houston, Randy Blaukat, Rick Clunn and a Ton of Girls in Bikinis
Every year, hundreds of fishing writers write hundreds of fishing stories that are much beloved by the fishing community. None of the fishing stories in this book fit that description. Previously published in Sports Afield and Details magazines, these stories -- about taking fly-casting lessons from Lefty Kreh, about new-age fishermen versus the religious right on the professional bass-fishing circuit, and about the sport of flinging a lead weight as far as is humanly possible -- irritated both readers and advertisers and both spouted off to no end. The author was accused of making up quotes, of rearranging facts and, just in general, of being a horse's ass (which, unlike the others, is probably true). On the other hand, lots of people also loved these stories, largely because they dared to tell the truth about the sport of fishing and some of the major characters in the sport. No sacred cows were protected in the reporting that went behind these pieces. The result is some darkness, some humor, some good times, some fun, some bad language, some dirty jokes, and some truly memorable encounters. Also included as a bonus story (justification: it's set on the water, in Daytona) is an R-rated exploration of the world of professional bikini contests ... and what a world it is!
