The boards constructed from 5/8'' Baltic Birch premium grade plywood (with 11 plies). This high strength material is much stronger than ordinary solid hardwoods. Engineered for high tensile strength and durability, it will not crack or split like solid board materials and is substantially more durable with greater strength. In addition, it is a lighter weight. Two comfortable ergonomic shaped hand holes specifically placed close to the ends for greater leverage and control; without compromising board strength. Smooth tapered radius ends allow a less difficult and gentler board placement. In addition to being easier to position with less effort, clothes do not easily snag or tangle during transfers, and care givers have more control for patient transfers requiring less lifting. Finish coating sealed with high quality Poly-Coat, which gives longer-lasting wear and greater durability. The board's top transferring surface polished to a smooth gloss finish allowing easier transfers into or out of: car, bed, bath, and wheelchair. The underside has a special non-slip texture finish on both ends of the board, enabling better gripping and contact with transferring surfaces. This gives better stability and reduces the potential for board movement while transferring. The top board surface has grooves on both sides for additional handling and gripping options while positioning or when removing the board after a transfer.
