Religious Traditions of the World surveys the religious traditions of the world from a historical and descriptive point of view. The intent is to provide a survey that is cordial to the interests of orthodox Christian readers. All of the major religious traditions of the world are covered. Part one surveys diverse approaches taken in religious studies. Part two covers religions in peasant societies of India, Africa and and South America. Part three covers Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Part four moves historically and regionally through developments in India, China and Japan. Part five concludes with a review of contemporary theologies of religion including those of John Hick, Karl Rahner and Lesslie Newbigin and compare these with their own evangelical theology.
