Revolutionary War Recruiting Broadside 1776
The full title of this document is "Instructions to the Officers Appointed to Recruit in History for the Service of the United States of America." On September 10, 1776, the Continental Congress authorized the payment of bounties to persons volunteering for military service for the duration of the Revolutionary War. Years after the war, a war widow produced this document to lay claim to her husband's pension. Here it is recreated in accurate detail on antiqued parchment, featuring the signatures on the original Broadside.
