Riding The Storm: Very Best Of The Noise Years 1983-1995
Shrink-wrapped
Riding The Storm (The Very Best Of The Noise Years 1983-1995) features killer tracks from Running Wild's 9 albums for Noise Riding The Storm is one of 8 new 2 CD and digital compilations released as part of the Noise Lebt reissue series. Each title features striking packaging in a stylish digipack with new sleevenotes featuring band interviews, photos and memorabilia. Formed in 1976 in Hamburg, Running Wild were originally influenced by the likes of Judas Priest, Kiss and AC/DC but found everlasting fame when they pioneered the entertaining pirate metal sub-genre after vocalist / guitarist Rolf Kasparek saw Roman Polanski's movie Pirates whilst writing a song called Under Jolly Roger for their 3rd studio album. While the historical lyrics were very superficial at first, the lyrics for later albums were intensively researched, by Rolf Kasparek in particular. In addition to lyrics about pirates like Calico Jack, Klaus Störtebeker, or the little-known Henry Jennings, the band also addressed subjects like the Wars of the Roses, the Battle of Waterloo, or the colonization of the New World by the Conquistadors.
