SEW-Retro Grease, Motor & Gear Lubricant for Vintage and Antique Sewing Machines
Lubricant specially formulated for the Singer Featherweight 221 & 222
SEW-RETRO GREASE Motor & Gear Lubricant - specially formulated for vintage Singer motors that have a felt wick, including the Singer Featherweight 221 & 222K. Some attachments need lubricant sometimes, too! This lubricant is appropriate for any and all sewing machines with all-metal gears. (Do not use this lube with any plastic or nylon gears.) We are often asked if this lubricant is appropriate for other vintage Singer Sewing Machines -- and the answer is yes - so long as your vintage Singer motor has motor ports with a felt wick inside. If you are unsure of this, then if your manual indicates that your vintage Singer motor requires motor lubricant, then this lubricant will be perfectly suited for your machine. Each motor lubricant comes with an instruction sheet for application as well as a port-cleaning tool so you can clean out the motor ports of the old grease. The Featherweight motor has two little holes that you squeeze a pea-size amount of lubricant into. As the motor heats up during use it will wick the lubricant into the motor as needed. Application twice a year is usually adequate unless you sew day in and day out and / or do any free-motion quilting, then you will need to lubricate your motor about once a quarter or as often as needed. (* Most White Featherweight machines do not require motor lubricant for the motor. You will know if your White Featherweight takes motor lubricant because it will have the motor lubricant ports on the motor itself.) Your Sewing Machine Manual or Adjuster's Service Manual will illustrate all the lubricating points for your machine. TAKE NOTE: DO NOT USE OIL in your Singer Motor. Your motor should only have motor lubricant and not oil.
