Convert your free-swinging hinged door into a self-closing door with Prime-Line's KC18US Safety Spring Door Closer. These closers are constructed of diecast materials and come in a brown painted finish. Other available colors include: black, white, chrome and satin chrome. These closers are non-handed and can be used with both left and right-handed swinging doors weighing up to 150 lbs. These safety spring door closers feature an adjustable closing force and speed. Their design can complement any style door, and they are U. L. listed with a ½ hour fire rating. The base measures 1 in. wide, it has a 4-1/4 in. hole center spacing and features a 4-3/4 in. long arm. This surface-mounted hardware makes installation is a breeze. All fasteners and installation instructions are included with this item. Unlike other door closers that pull the doors closed, these closers operate with a pushing-closed force. They do not include a hold-open door stop feature, but the arm does have the ability to swing a full 180 degrees. Note: The door's distance of swing may be reduced a couple inches to the point where the door contacts the closer's housing. For a rust and weather resistant closure, consider model numbers KC50HD (white) and KC57US (brown) which are suitable for outdoor/exterior use, designed for use with lightweight gates and screen doors. Use of white lithium grease on internal compressing springs may be desired, while use of chemicals like WD-40 which actually breaks down lubricating grease. Caution: Torque must be completely relaxed prior to opening housing to lubricate springs.
