In this book, children aged 8 to 12 can join young Kateri Tekakwitha on her path through tragedy and adventure to triumph and holiness. Beatified in 1980, and sainted in October 2012, Kateri was a happy child from a loving family who was forced to deal with adversity at a tender age: smallpox ravaged her village and took the lives of her parents and brother and left her scarred and weak with poor eyesight. While still appreciating the spirituality of her Mohawk people, Kateri continued to deepen her relationship with Jesus. He was the one who inspired her. The one who comforted and consoled her. Through her devotion to Jesus, this humble, extraordinary young woman became Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the Lily of the Mohawks.
