“Alyssa, how many times are you going to stare at little Alex? He looked like his father when he was born and that hasn’t changed.†Alyssa rolled her eyes at the older woman. She looked at her precious son. He was asleep in his bassinet. He was two months old now. She’d had an easy pregnancy and an easy birth. And she didn’t need Maddie to point out the obvious. Every time she looked at her baby she saw Jason’s face. Hard to forget the father with his son around as a constant reminder of the man she lost. The love of her life had cheated on her before she knew she was pregnant. And that’s something she could never ever forget even if she tried. It wasn’t until much later that she found out she was going to be a mother. She looked at Maddie again. “You don’t have to keep reminding me. I have eyes.†Maddie snorted. “Maybe I need to remind you about something else. When are you going to tell his father about his existence? Are you waiting for him to graduate high school?†Alyssa glared at the other woman. “Maddie, I love you but you can nag a person to death.†She drew a deep breath. “You will be happy to know that I intend to call Jason today and tell him about Alex. Does that satisfy you?†Maddie shrugged her shoulders. “It has nothing to do with me. I will say this though. It’s about time father and son met each other. No matter how you feel about Jason, he’s Alexander’s father and he has a right to know his son.†“I know, Maddie. You don’t have to beat me over the head about it. I never intended to keep Alex from Jason. I needed time to prepare myself to see him again. Once he sees Alex our lives will never be the same. He’ll want to see his son.†“Of course he will and that’s what has you running scared. You still love that man and you’re afraid that once you see him, you won’t be able to stay angry with him.†“You’re wrong, Maddie. All I have to do is remember the day I found Jason in bed with his assistant.†Maddie always did see way too much for her own good. She was right. Alyssa was afraid of her feelings for Jason. After all this time she still loved him. She would never admit that to the older women. Giving birth to his son had only deepened the love. However, she had no intention of giving in to that love. She would never be able to trust Jason again no matter what her feelings were. He had hurt her too bad. “I’ve thought about that story you told me,†commented Maddie. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about him from your parents. Despite the fact that your father thinks he’s not good enough for you. I do not believe for one minute that he cheated on you. I think that woman set the stage to seduce him and that’s what you walked in on.†“I know you believe that. You weren’t there, Maddie. You didn’t see what I saw. I’m only doing this for Alex. I won’t keep him from his father because that would be wrong. As for me, I can’t trust Jason and I have to remember that.†“I still think you’re wrong.†“You’re entitled to your opinion. Keep an eye on Alex for me. I’m going to call Jason and then change my clothes.†Maddie gave Alyssa a knowing look. “Interesting.†Alyssa raised a brow. “What?†“Oh nothing.†Maddie had a funny smile on her face. Alyssa frowned, but went upstairs to get ready to face Jason. He might be angry she didn't tell him she was pregnant. She couldn’t be concerned about that now. She would deal with that when the time came. The time for hiding was over. He could see his son as often as he liked. But if he thought she would tolerate that witch Miranda being around her son, he had better think again!
