Self-portrait, U.S.A
A photo-essay on the 1968 U.S. political conventions to nominate the presidential candidates: the Republicans in Miami, the Democrats in Chicago. David Douglas Duncan seems to have been everywhere at the time including on the streets during the police riots in Chicago. Most of the photographs are intimate images of the delegates, nominees, power-brokers and participants in the halls and back-rooms at the conventions. A fascinating look at a segment of the U.S. at a pivotal moment in its history. And as always with Duncan, a gorgeous production, beautifully printed.
