Sense of Art "Mizuhiki": Japanese decorative string (Japanese culture Book 9)

It is customary to use Mizuhiki to decorate envelopes or boxes which are to be given as gifts for various important occasions in Japan. Although both ribbonsÂ Â and Mizuhiki are used to decorate a gift, they are discarded after they have served they're purpose. The significance of the Mizuhiki is sometimes overlooked so I am happy to introduce to you this small and subtle art.
