Isham Jones, that famous songwriter and bandleader of the 1920s and 1930s, is still widely regarded as having led one of the finest orchestras of the dance band era: sophisticated, elegant, innovative, and thoroughly danceable. The Jones orchestra was at its peak in the early 1930s when these recordings were made, but the economic depression meant that the records sold poorly, and today they are sought-after collector's items. This disc collects 23 of Isham Jones's best records from 1932-1934, most previously unavailable on CD, and adds two recently discovered and previously unissued private recordings of the Jones band in 1933. Vocals by Eddie Stone, Charles French, Frank Sylvano, Rita Smith, and Joe Martin. Exemplary remastering. Includes a 16-page illustrated booklet with notes by Kurt Weisbecker and a complete discography.
