Sight Reading Skills for Suzuki Violin Students - Volume 1 (Sight Reading Skills For Suzuki Violinist, Volume 1)
Music reading is most easily, and most enjoyably, learned if it is taught when the child is developmentally ready. "Sight Reading Skills" by Suzanne Schreck is for Suzuki violin students. This method of reading is designed to develop the young student's ability to read music. If the melodies are recognizable, Suzuki students will play them by ear, not by sight. An effective sight reading method will use a minimum of recognizable material. If learning is to be secure, it must proceed one step at a time. "Sight Reading Skills" introduces one new note, or note value, per page. The development of reading ability does not correlate with progression through the Suzuki material. "Sight Reading Skills" is structured in such a way that minimal teaching time produces maximum learning. There are two volumes. Both volumes are effective and efficient, flexible both in adapting to different students and in adapting to different teaching techniques and approaches. Suzanne suggests using her material in conjunction with other materials in the hopes of meeting the needs of each individual student.
