SketchUp Modeling For Amateurs (Doing to Understand Book 10)
SketchUp is a 3D modeling program. It does 3D modeling by pulling 2D figures into 3D shapes. SketchUp Ruby is to Ruby what "Visual Basic for Applications" (VBA) is to "Visual Basic" (VB), a programming method to extend the capabilities of the software. SketchUp modeling can best be accomplished by using all of the modeling resources available: an interactive interface, SketchUp Ruby scripts and SketchUp plugins. Plugins are Ruby scripts written by experienced programmers for specific applications. This book shows how an amateur can use all of the SketchUp resources. Modeling is accomplished by a dual approach using the interactive interface and simple Ruby scripts. These scripts do not have the universal robustness of plugins. But, since they are created by the modeler, they greatly enhance modeling capability. The book demonstrates ways of using all available data to make models that are precise and give an accurate visualization.
