I always had a handful of these words in a pocket chart I draped over an easel so that when my kiddos were on the rug, everyone could see really well. We talked about a word at a time, just chatting about what is in the picture. We'd play a few games and when the children could easily recognize the words with the pictures, we'd vote on which word to turn over to the plain side. We took about 10-15 minutes every morning for sight word work and over time the results were amazing! The first graders worked through ALL the words we had! Over 300 of them. Start today.
