Solid Rock (1972) is The Temptations’ first album made primarily without founding members and original lead singers Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams. It is a masterful LP of righteous trippy soul, recorded during the height of The Temptations’ strong association with Norman Whitfield. The album includes songs such as; “Take a Look Aroundâ€, “Stop the War Nowâ€, and “Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are), as well as a cover of "Ain't No Sunshine." The arrangements are super funky, with spacey effects, rumbling bass and fuzzy guitars.
