This is the Revised version of Son of Silver fox, with Diana's story added to the beginning. Blue Buffalo, the son of Silver Fox, a Sioux Indian, and Diana Marsh, a white woman, cannot seem to find his place in society, because he is a half breed. He longs to live the Indian life, but that part of the Indian culture seems gone forever. To appease his need to be like his father, he learns all the ways of the Indian. However, when the daughter of Greg Mansfield, an old friend of his mother's, comes to stay, he tries to fight off her attention, because he thinks the only kind of woman he could ever love, should be an Indian. In a tug of war between her love for him, and his denial of his love for her, he discovers a side of himself he never knew existed.
