This CD was written to teach children how read by teaching them how to blend sounds together into words. In order to read a consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) word, children must say the letter sounds in a word, stretch them out, and then blend them together to read the word. This is very often the biggest road block for many children in learning to read; they simply cannot get past the hurdle of learning to blend sounds together, and it's no fun to practice! This CD solves that problem by setting all of the steps of sounding out a word to music, and makes it FUN! And singing the letter sounds creates a natural bridge in that process of learning to blend the sounds together, because when you stretch out the sounds of a word, you are almost singing them already, just not on a certain "pitch." When we learn to read by singing, the entire class sings the sounds of a word together, then blends them together, and then practices reading the words together! Music titles include: 1: Just Two Sounds, 2: Little Two Letter Words, 3: How Do You Sound It Out?, 4: At Family Song, 5: An Family Song, 6: It Family Song, 7: In Family Song, 8: Ig Family Song, 9: Ip Family Song, 10: Op Family Song, 11: Ot Family Song, 12: Ox Family Song, 13: Et Family Song, 14: En Family Song, 15: Eg Family Song, 16: Ug Family Song, 17: Ut Family Song, 18: Un Family Song, 19: Nonsense Words PLEASE NOTE: These songs are intentionally short to fit the attention span of the average 3-6 year old child! (Many songs are less than one minute long.) They are written to get straight to point, state it in a way that is simple enough for young children to remember, and then move on to the next lesson. That way, if your child's attention span is only five minutes, he or she should be able to learn the concepts presented in 6-8 songs in just one sitting. With repeated play, children should be able to learn ALL of the concepts in the songs quite quickly!
